2008/09 Season @ Gunnedah Speedway Kicks off this Saturday Night:
Headlined by the mighty V8 Super Sedans and the thrilling Litre Sprintcars, the 2008/09 season at Gunnedah Speedway (North Western NSW) is set to fire into action this Saturday night (October 18).
A hot field of up to 15 thundering V8 Super Sedans will fight it out with the opening round of their NSW Series, and the drivers to watch out for consist of defending series champion Lachlan Onley, Tony Barklimore debuting a brand car, Michael Hickey, Brett Hignett, Brett Smith, Bernie Roberts, Gunnedah Speedway promoter Barry Towers, and a host of other hard chargers.
In the Litre Sprintcars, current Australian Title holder Sean Barnett, and he should be hard to beat, but the Sydney hard charger is sure to be kept honest by the likes of Clayton Priest, Craig Geering, Paul Freeman, and co. The Litre Sprintcars certainly provide plenty of close and exciting action, and they put on some sensational racing on numerous last season.
Supporting the headlining acts at Gunnedah Speedway this Saturday night is to be made up of ‘Holden VS Ford’ Street Stocks, 2 Litre Sedans, ‘Crash and Bash’ Fender Benders, and Junior Sedans.
During the off season, the Gunnedah Speedway management has made a number of improvements to the venue, which includes improved pit, track, and spectator facilities throughout the venue.
Admission prices for Gunnedah Speedway on Saturday night are $20 for adults, $12 for aged pensioners, $12 for students aged between 16 and 12 years, and children under 12 years are admitted free providing they are accompanied by a paying adult. A family pass is $56 which includes two adults and up to three students.
A special service for Gunnedah Speedway race fans this season is a free courtesy bus that leaves the Regal Hotel at 5.30pm and the Wolsey Park at 5.45pm, both pick up points are in the Gunnedah CBD. Bus returns to Gunnedah town after race meeting.
