| Speedway City to be called Truckworks Speedway City... TRUCKWORKS SPEEDWAY CITY – A NEW ERA DAWNS South Australia’s leading Speedway venue, Speedway City, will open the coming season with a naming rights sponsor for the first time during the tenure of its current owners, Wendy Turner and Bob Sincock. Adelaide based heavy towing and truck repair business, ‘Truckworks’ has thrown its significant weight behind the Virginia clay way and Turner could not be happier, “We are absolutely ecstatic to be able to announce this arrangement,” said Turner. “We have been here for 13 years and we have had many associate sponsors during that time, but to have a company like Truckworks putting its name to our product as a naming rights sponsor is a significant step forward for not just our venue, but Speedway in general. Every business benefits from a significant injection of funds and we are no different. We are already considered one of the country’s leading venues and this most definitely moves us further up the rankings”. Truckworks owner Lyndon Reynolds, 47, an expat Tasmanian who relocated to Adelaide almost 10 years ago, says his relationship with the sport has been a long one and when the opportunity arose to take his involvement to the next level it just felt right, “I have known Bob and Wendy for some time, as we are both in the heavy towing industry and I generally make the trip out to Virginia for the big meetings,” he said. “I used to go to the Speedway back in Tasmania and I had a few runs in a sprintcar, then I had to make a decision – do I concentrate on business and make some money or race sprintcars and spend it! “I guess you could say I was enjoying the driving too much and got out at the right time! “I did some sponsorship with David Murcott for a couple of seasons and I’ve never lost interest in what really is a great sport to watch. “Because we are in the same business as Wendy and Bob in terms of the towing, this announcement will probably have some shock value and that also works for me,” he concluded. Truckworks is a third generation business and is a huge player in their industry and run a multi million dollar fleet of heavy towing vehicles that is unparalleled in this country. All vehicles are decked out in the familiar purple and yellow Truckworks colours that are easily recognizable wherever they go. They have a long association with world renowned heavy vehicle fitters Miller Industries and act as their agents in Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia – yes, they are a big time operation! So, as a new season dawns the Truckworks/Speedway City partnership looks set to launch South Australian Speedway into the stratosphere as together they embark on a summer of non-stop on track action! |
