Re: Lismore Speedway - November 1 - Lord Mayors Cup For V8 Dirt Modifieds

The First race of the season was a pretty good one!!!

The Tribute to Stuart Herne was very good... they brought him out in the dual cab and interviewed him then did 2 parade laps with all the crews and drivers lined up on the track clapping... the crowd really got into it too...

Kids under 12 free seemed to work.. lots of kids in the stands!

Poor Al Jarvis had a shocker having to retire after getting hit up the back during hotlaps... feel sorry for him...

Simon Jupe lost a wheel in the second round of heats thought it was going to land in my lap for a second... britten (his teammate) did well to avoid...

Lance Towns - Your a legend mate.. thanks for the Donuts!!! had a hard lick into the wall between turn 1 & 2 just too many cars going for the same bit of realestate...

Britton found the wall hard in 1 & 2 in the feature also... hope it didn't hurt the new Troyer too much!!!

Well done to Robo... 3 wins form 3 starts this season!!! looked to do it fairly easy from the front... pezzuttis setup looked a little too soft... left front wheel was never on the deck... and i think that cost him a little losing 2nd to oldfield early on...

The Heavens opened up a little just before interval.. nothing substantial but they cut the pole shuffle and interval to try and get the show in... as it turned out there was no rain of substance... but good call by the team we did finish a little early though

The Dwarf Cars put on a good show.. think they will be crowd favorite by the end of the season... would be good to have a few more numbers maybe the NSW blokes will turn up next meet... Anthony Chaffee took the win quite easily.. the mod bodies seem to have an advantage over the classic bodies...

The Juniors were very down on numbers forcing match racing... was much more interesting to see the 2 lap shootouts.. Kurt wilson took out the 10 lap feature...

Street Stocks put on a good show... good number of cars and good to see some new drivers having a go!!! Paul reeves headed the field...

4 Cylinders were a little down on numbers... Aaron Ackerley took the win after only his second meeting from stepping up into juniors! lets hope we get a full grid next meeting!!!

AMCA Nationals only had 12 cars... so heats were a little less exciting than they could be... the dash was great though the top 3 really battled all 6 laps... Feature was great to watch also Stuart Hall throwing everything he had to get around Mick Sauer and finnaly going around the outside to make the pass for the win!!!

all in all a good night... the rain caused a little screwup to the schedule but i think everyone went home happy!!!

Re: Lismore Speedway - November 1 - Lord Mayors Cup For V8 Dirt Modifieds

For thoes of you that don't know, Gene got a little over excited during the first heat and looped it onto the grass in turn 1-2, the next lap he did the exact same thing.:bun ny:

Great racing from the modifieds and thoes little noisy things. There were heaps of kids in the stands which would be fine if they could sit still, all they do is run up and down the bleechers, jump up and down, some kids near me threw a lump of clay at one of the cars and someone who had a few too many layed into them, needless to say the parrents were not impressed with the language used towards the kids, but the kids could not do anything wrong.

Anyways that summerises my night. Holdens rule.

Hey mat... wasn't me in the car

ROBINSON'S CONVINCING LORD MAYOR'S CUP VICTORY

Mark Robinson raced to a convincing victory in the Lord Mayor's Cup at Lismore Speedway on Saturday night..

Robinson was always in command after he started at the head of the field and stamped his authority on the race as he led Luke Oldfield and Andrew Pezzutti to the chequered flag.

The 30-lap race ran without major incident as the top three placegetters moved out from the rest of the chasing pack.

The only interruption to the action came when Peter Britten hit the safety fence. Britten, who escaped unhurt from the incident, lost all chance of a major placing and did not figure in the remainder of the race.

Robinson has commenced his season on a high note and showed that he will be once again be the one of the dominant drivers in V8 Dirt Modifieds events at the Lismore circuit this season.

The pomp and ceremony of the Lord Mayor's Cup – rated as one of the most prestigious V8 Dirt Modified events on the east coast speedway calendar – was highlighted with the presence of Mayor Jenny Dowell.

Meanwhile, in other race action, the Street Stock main event was taken out by Paul Reeves, while other feature race winners were Anthony Chaffey (Dwarf cars), Stuart Hall (AMCA Nationals), Paul Reeves (Street Stocks), Kurt Wilson (Junior Sedans) and Aaron Ackerley (Four-Cylinder Sedans).

Did Robbo have to make a donation to the show society (Or is it Jamie Smiths pocket?) for tearing the grass up.
