Best Location for a new track in SEQ?

Where in SEQ could a new track be built and be safe from development, close to a major population, and have good access? One spot I have often thought of as I drive past on my way to BIS is the land behind Moby Vic's southbound on the Bruce Highway (Beerwah). Huge forestry surrounding it and has good access from the highway both directions. Massive population to draw spectators and only 1/2-3/4hr drive from Bris or Sunny Coast.

I reckon there should be one near the Brisbane Airport. If they dont complain about planes I am sure a few race cars on a Saturday night wont bother them to much. Best part is they wont build houses to close to the Airport anyway.

yeah beerwah would be a good spot due to the forrestry, even if you headed out abit futher the other way, woodford - kilcoy there isnt a great deal out that way either and its still fairly close to the major population of brisbane.

The cane field around Jacobs Well way could be an option, sure there would be a cane farmer willing to part with some land for the right money

Re: Best Location for a new track in SEQ?

Quite a few years ago, I heard that there were moves to build one near Esk (you know, home of the Kranske sisters, Dawn, Mourn, Arva and Eva) - but it quite possibly wouldn't happen in the next 10 years or so. Something had been submitted to their local council???

Yeah i went to one meeting out there and it died in the butt real quick.

To many walls put up made it hard to do anything I think was the undoing of that project

Why does that not surprise me??? Let's face it...putting a new track in anywhere will be met with great numbers of high hurdles - Lord knows that the tracks we have sometimes struggle for their existence in the face of adversity and objections.

I think Caloundra was another spot that was brought up at one stage too.

caloundra would be a no goer though due to all the new estates popping up around the land at the racecourse
