NSW TQ/Compact Speedcar 50th anniversary celebrations

2009 marks the 50th anniversary of TQ/compact speedcar racing in NSW. To commemorate this important anniversary, a dinner reunion will be held at Windsor in August. The Windsor RSL Speedway played an important role in the early years of TQ speedcar racing, with several NSW championships being held at the speedway in the early and mid 1960's.

Here are the details of the event:

Venue: Windsor RSL Club Auditorium, cnr Argyle & Mileham Streets, South Windsor, NSW
Date: Saturday, 15th August 2009
Time: 11am till late
Admission: Free

There will be a static display of restored vintage TQ speedcars as well as current compact speedcars.

A DVD of Windsor RSL Speedway and TQ speedcar footage will be shown, along with a collection of other memorabilia, such as programs, trophies, photos, etc.

Early indications are that a bumper crowd will be attending, so please book the date in your diary. The organising committee would like as many ex-TQ/Compact Speedcar drivers to attend and remember their racing careers.

For more details, please contact Alan Streader, Secretary & Treasurer of the NSW Vintage Compact Speedcar Club.

It should be a great day at Windsor.

When you look back in time this division has started a lot of racers off on careers higher up in the sport. How many can you name?

I'll start with: Ray Platt, Alan Streader, Bob Morgan, Skip Jackson, Brett Morris.

Re: NSW TQ/Compact Speedcar 50th anniversary celebrations

The 50th anniversary has been run & won.The weather was glorious for the outside displays & the atmosphere inside the auditorium was fantastic.Special thanks must go to the Windsor RSL,Alan Streader,Pat Fanning & a host of others that did a great job to make this day an outstanding event. There were plenty of old photos with some great old time film footage to view...The most rewarding thing about the day would have to be the 200 plus people in attendance, old cars & solos, old drivers & crews, old people(some not so old) all having some great old fashion FUN.Everybody take a bowe,a great day was had by all.
PS.If you would like a "celebrative coffee mug"of the event please contact Pat Fanning 96444053 as we have a few left.At $10 these are a must have, cheers.
