Marshall Sargent racing in Australia Hi everyone I am looking for any photos of Marshall Sargent racing on any of the tracks in Australia. He raced in the stockcar section initially then he raced a super modified after that. He raced at Rowley Park, Tracey's, Claremont in stockcars that I know of anyway. Hope someone has some to show.

Re: Marshall Sargent racing in Australia He also raced at The Ekka in Brisbane. He brought out super mods a few times, I think. My mate's father bought one off him - Roy Hammond. There are some photos on Oldtime Speedway but I guess you're after different ones.

Re: Marshall Sargent racing in Australia Can remember as a youth seeing Marshall race at Tracey's in Maribyrnong then, in 1976, I watched him run at his home track in San Jose, California. A big, wide, heavily banked, third-mile pavement track running beautifully designed and presented Super Modifieds.

Re: Marshall Sargent racing in Australia ![]() Auto racing in California, especially in San Jose, can not be talked about without histories most legendary name, Marshall Sargent . upon entering the motor sports hall of fame in 1996, He accomplished more in auto racing than most can comprehend. In his career that spanned from 1949 thru 1969, he won over 500 feature events along with numerous state and track championships. Marshall was also one of the first Americans to venture overseas to Australia to compete. He won several features and championships there also. His talent was then passed on to his son, Mike Sargent. Mike competed from 1968 to 1990, compiling over 200 feature wins with numerous state and local championships. Mike also became an innovator by opting to build his own design chassis. Several other teams have chosen to drive Sargent Chassis over other brands due to their winning record. Mike's brother Mark too has compiled several wins in his racing career. Other family members who have been behind the racing wheel include Mike and Marks younger brother, the late Mitchell Sargent, Mike's sons Marshall II and Kirk, Mitchell's son matt is set to debut in the 08 360 season. From Sargent Racing .Com

Re: Marshall Sargent racing in Australia Marshall Sargent first came to Australia to race at Rowley park SA in the 1963-64 season where he drove a locally built car powered by a OHV Chrysler engine. They called the class the modified stockcar/sportsmans and they raced with the heavier stockcars in the marathons.

Re: Marshall Sargent racing in Australia That photograph of Marshall Sargent is at the Sydney Showground, circa season 1966/67. Marshall was unbearable at the Showground, starting at the rear and charging and barging his way through the traffic in the feature races. Local heros: Bill Warner in the old "Moon Eyes" and Dick Briton tried hard against the American but were outclassed.

lol - I'm sure you mean unbeatable (r and t are next to each other on the keyboard) but depending on your point of view, unbearable could also apply. |

Re: Marshall Sargent racing in Australia I've got quite a few pics of him, in particular with Ray Skipper. I'll look through and post them here. A replica of one of his cars (original chassis) is being built and must be near completion. Bruce's Tyres car i think
