[FONT=Verdana]Nathan Smee was a man on the move last Saturday night at [/FONT][FONT=Verdana]Tyrepower[/FONT][FONT=Verdana]Parramatta[/FONT][FONT=Verdana]City[/FONT][FONT=Verdana] raceway, capturing A-Main victory on the night’s 20-lap Speedcar feature event.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]Finishing 4th and 2nd in his earlier heat races, the Nathan Smee Racing team utilised their valuable pit time to adjust the car for the upcoming feature, on what they knew would be a challenging slick surface.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]“We put a brand new American Racer right rear on the car and adjusted the front and rear suspension as we were chasing the track all night,” said crew chief Dean Woods. “Nathan had to do the rest and was manually adjusting the shocks to tighten it up as the race was going.”[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]Starting from position 14 in a talented field of Speedcar competitors, Smee was on the gas at the drop of the green flag and on a mission for the lead. Expertly weaving through front-runners, Nathan was into second position by the third lap and had successfully moved into first with 16 laps remaining on the board![/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]“I knew where everyone was starting and needed to get the jump on them as quick as I could,” Smee said after the event “we had the car working on the low line and tried to fill the gaps whenever they opened up.”[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]Sticking to the low line, Smee began to strengthen his lead and in doing so, claimed the fastest lap of the race.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]While the battle for the placings raged behind him, Smee extended his number one position before a new challenge developed; a steady stream of lapped traffic! Skilfully weaving high and low, Smee kept a calm composure and his foot on the peddle to take the win in front of an appreciative crowd.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]Racing consistently throughout the entire feature, Smee captured his first A Main win for the 2006-2007 season by over half a lap; an accomplishment not easily attained in the highly competitive Sydney Speedcar scene.[/FONT]

[FONT=Verdana]“I’d like to thank everyone involved in this win; all the crew, Dean, Terry and Debbie, my family and the sponsors who have helped us out; without them this wouldn’t have been possible” said an elated Smee.[/FONT]
