Street Sedan - the 50 lapper - M'boro Speedway

The third annual running of the Street Sedan 50 lapper is set down to be run at the Maryborough Speedway on 6th February, 2010.

Nominations have been emailed & posted to everyone today.

Nominations close on Sunday 31st January, 2010 at 5PM Sharp.

After listening to the complaints of many drivers about the marble draw and the back of the bus challenge, the Maryborough Sporting Car Club has changed to format for this event.

The format for the third annual running of the 50 lapper will be as followed:

Two rounds of heats – 8 lap heats

Top 20 Pole Shuffle

The Top 20 cars will face off in a pole shuffle. The first “shuffle” will be between qualifiers 20th & 19th. Both drivers will race for two laps and line up in a rolling start side by side. The highest qualified car between the two cars on the track, has preference on which side of the grid he/she can start the shuffle from (inside or outside). The loser of the race pulls onto the infield and the winner stays on the track and is joined by the next qualifier.

20th vs 19th – the loser starts the A Main from position 20
winner vs 18th – the loser starts the A Main from position 19
winner vs 17th – the loser starts the A Main from position 18
winner vs 16th – the loser starts the A Main from position 17
winner vs 15th – the loser starts the A Main from position 16
winner vs 14th – the loser starts the A Main from position 15
winner vs 13th – the loser starts the A Main from position 14
winner vs 12th – the loser starts the A Main from position 13
winner vs 11th – the loser starts the A Main from position 12
winner vs 10th – the loser starts the A Main from position 11
winner vs 9th – the loser starts the A Main from position 10
winner vs 8th – the loser starts the A Main from position 9
winner vs 7th – the loser starts the A Main from position 8
winner vs 6th – the loser starts the A Main from position 7
winner vs 5th – the loser starts the A Main from position 6
winner vs 4th – the loser starts the A Main from position 5
winner vs 3rd – the loser starts the A Main from position 4
winner vs 2nd – the loser starts the A Main from position 3
winner vs 1st – the winner of this will start the A Main from pole and loser starts from position 2.

B Main - 24 starters - 15 laps
(Top 4 finishes will start from positions 21st – 24th in the 50 lap A Main)

A Main – 24 starters – 50 laps
Top twenty starting positions will be determined by the Top 20 Pole Shuffle. The final four starting positions will be made up by the top four finishes in the B Main

A Main prize Money

1st - $ 500
2nd - $ 400
3rd - $ 300
4th - $ 200
5th - $ 100

All other cars that start the first heat receive - $60.

We believe that this will give the event a renewed interest and provide for a great night of Street Sedan racing for drivers and spectators alike.

Tim Atkin won the first 50 lapper and Jason Slade won the second “50 lapper”, but who will win the third “50 lapper” ???

That is a shame russell, your going to miss a great race meeting...

We are really trying to accomodate everyone without cutting more divisions from race meetings (which unfortunately we have already had to do this season).

We are under strict curfew now and as we saw last meeting, we must finish by 10:30pm. We decided that we would reduce this event back to two events but add in the pole shuffle to ensure we have enough time to run the 50 lap feature race.

I love this event and Street Sedans, but our club has had to make some tough decisions to ensure we have a race track to race on, into the years ahead. That is the big picture.

I do agree that next season, I will have to further reduce the number of divisions running on each race meeting, as we can only run 20 nights per season (which is what we have scheduled for this season). I just hope everyone doesn't whinge and moan if there division has one less race meeting at Maryborough next season...

Trust me, the committee & I are working really hard, to try and ensure everyone is happy and trying to make sure you all have a race track to compete on. The last thing we need is to lose another race track...

Anyway, let's look forward to the Street Sedan 50 lapper, it is going to be another great event for Street Sedans and the Maryborough Speedway.

4pm is too early as it is... I hate having a curfew by it is here forever...

Speedway should be 6pm - 10pm, A short, sharp and entertaining show, that leaves spectators walking out the gate wanting more...

But unfortunately that isn't possible.

If we had a shorter show, the track might be a bit easier to manage and need less water throughout the night, but if we did run a four show, we would have to only run two divisions per night and which would mean less shows for each division for the entire speedway season...
