Sprintcars Return to Gunnedah Speedway this Saturday Night

Sprintcars Return to Gunnedah Speedway this Saturday Night:

There is going to be no better place to be this Saturday night (April 26) than Gunnedah Speedway (North Western NSW) with the 800 plus horsepower Sprintcars making their second appearance of the 2007/08 season.

In what will be the final race meting for the Gunnedah Speedway in the 2007/08 season, the North Western venue will see up to 20 Sprintcars, in the field drivers from across NSW will be competing such as James Thompson, Dave Lambert, Gary Rooke, Mark Blyton, Jeremy Cross, and that is just scratching the surface in terms of the talent that is going to be on show.

Earlier this season back in October last year at Gunnedah Speedway the Sprintcar made an appearance for the first time in four seasons and on that occasion it was Muswellbrook based former multiple Australian Litre Sprintcar Champion Andrew Wright that took the winning honours and ended up downing Adam Wray and Carl Trofa in what was an exciting race. On that night front runner, Mark Blyton, had misfortune and that spoiled his winning chances, so he is returning looking to make amends.

Gunnedah Speedway promoter, Barry Towers, is very excited about the return of the Sprintcars to his venue, and once again is expecting the local supporters to come out and support this event in their droves.

“Sprintcars are without a doubt the biggest class in Australian Speedway, and I’m very excited about having them at my track once again, as the last time they were here earlier this season they managed to put on a fantastic show,” Towers enthused.

“Despite not making many visits to the country track over the past years, the Sprintcars remain very popular, as they are always on television, so now the country fans get the opportunity to see them live and up close and they can also meet the drivers of theses machines.”

Supporting the Sprintcar action on Saturday night are the ‘Holden VS Ford’ Street Stocks, Junior Sedans, 1600 Sedans, and the ‘Crash and Bash’ Fender Benders.

Admission prices for Gunnedah Speedway this Saturday night are $20 for adults, $12 for aged pensioners, $12 for students aged between 16 and 12 years, and kids under 12 years are admitted free providing they are accompanied by a paying adult.

Racing is to start at 4pm, and there will be a shuttle bus from Worsley Park in Gunnedah at 3pm.

Gunnedah Speedway is located at Bluevale Road, Gunnedah, which is 10km North West of the Gunnedah CBD.

Further information about the Gunnedah Speedway can be found by visiting their official website: www.gunnedahspeedway.com.au or contacting track promoter Barry Towers on 0412 151 111.

Great to see Mark Blyton back in a Sprintcar and great to see him have a win.
For someone who has only had a couple of races this season it's a great result for him

Hope this ain't the official that was responsible for making the dud decisions over the two nights.....................

Heard there were some shonky calls made, what an embarrassment for those responsible.

Good to see Danny return to the track after quite a nasty stack the other week.

The more time Danny spends out on the track, the better he becomes.
