360's In NSW

Hey guys,

Was just wondering over the last month or so i have spoken to a few different people around the traps and there seems to be a few people in NSW that would consider having 360ci motor over the 410ci for various reasons, obviously the people i have spoken to aren't the guys that are always up the top of the field & dont have the big budgets.

So my question is. Would Sprintcar racing in NSW be able to have the the 2 classes??

I would imagine the people that would goto the 360ci motors would still compete at TPCR on the open nights from time to time as these guys race for the fun of racing not so much to win the night and aren't there week in week out.

I think this will give the country tracks ( nowra, dubbo, gilgandra, gunnedah ) a much better chance on having affordable sprintcar racing as well giving the opportunity for the all stars to expand.

Re: 360's In NSW

although i think we need a 360 class in Aust, i dont think it will be any cheaper to run then a 410 class, a good 360 motor in the US is not much cheaper then a 410, i can see ill get howled down on this one but there are plenty of US sites to go on for the price of 360 US motors.

isnt the cost saving on a 360 with the rebuild side of things ?

At Tpcr which is the home of sprintcar racing in NSW they have an average of 50 / 410 cars per meeting, i cant see the promotor droping this class to run 360s, if there was enough cars i guess other tracks would pick them up and run with them, but you would need at least 15 cars to start.
It is still not a cheap class to run and its serious racing as in Victoria, but if you can get enough cars its worth a try.

the rebuild of the motors is the same as a 410, now i know that some people are going to get on here and say that you have to rebuild a 410 every 10 meetings and a 360 will go all season but that is a lot of B/S. i know of several 410s that have run for 2 full seasons at Tpcr without a rebuild, not my idea of how to maitain a motor but they will run the distance.

I dont know alot about the all stars but dont they run crate motors?? It doesn't matter what form of motorsport you run if you have the money to spend you will just keep spending on it anyway, however I am one that would look at this if it could be done!

Having tracks like lismore, dubbo, gilgandra, gunnedah & nowra in NSW im sure they could have at least 8 meetings between them

The cost of running a 360 all over the State plus accommodation would make this an excellent investment opportunity.Much smarter than running a 410 20 mins down the road at TPCR.

TPCR have gaps in the season were 410 sprintcars aren't racing i would like to think if this got some backing then TPCR could do an All Stars meeting for 360's its one way to start to expand

Re: 360's In NSW

Isn't there already enough classes in Speedway in NSW and the rest of the country???? Classes should be being culled to build numbers in a lesser number of classes not add another class to dilute numbers.

Yep i agree with you Gavin if you could get the Allstars up here to run if they will travel this far.

But what we have to remember is that a 360 sprintcar looks the same as a 410 on the track to the spectators, so will it be enough of a draw card over the 410s, or will it just look like another sprintcar race to the paying public.

Im not racing at the moment because of motor dramas but i would be racing at these country events if that was all sweet, me personally i cant do a full season at TPCR although if there was a series out there that could have say 10 events i would do that & just selected events here & there at TPCR even with a 360 in it

Re: 360's In NSW

i think if you asked around in the pits at pcr, you will find alot more cars than you think already running 360s instead of 410s

I know what you are saying Gavin but take into consideration the extra cost of overnight accomadation and extra fuel for your tow vehicle over 10 meetings and it soon adds up to a lot of extra money.
