I wasn't there, but I do remember LOTS of fun nights on the tar. The Yanks in the Grand Nationals, the LONG trip home (we lived out past Bathurst ... and in those days the roads weren't as good as now), the figure 8 races ..... *wipes a tear from eye*

I remember 3 things about that place....and i too was very young.....
    1. being babysat by a lady by the name of Ann Murphy , who I later found out was Pete's mum....I don't think she really even knew me, I was so palmed off by my fam! I just remember she had big black fuzzy hair!! ha ha
    2. being asleep in the back of the ute whilst everyone socialised till early hours, or even sunrise in the pits!! (thx dad, wonder if i'll do that to my son at PCR, NOT!!)
    3. the song "The Way it is" by Bruce Hornsby and the Range...constantly played over the loud speaker.....I ended up buying that CD a few years ago!! ha ha

    Oh the good ol' days.....

I've been told that I've been to Liverpool Speedway, it was when my mum was pregnant with me and my dad was racing... Does that count??? LOL

    20 years!
    That went quick.
I feel old as well,i still remember super modifieds and speedcars without cages.
I also remember leaving the place after sunrise on to many occasions.
Was an interesting track at times because of the lap times which i think where in the 10sec bracket for sedans and the quick 6cyl cars sometimes won the feature against the V8s.

I have a couple of pics of my fig8 car but the file size is to large for an attachment.Anyone who might be interested can pm me their email addy and ill send em to you.
    Cheers

These days at PCR you get booted out of the pits at about midnight, so gay..... Where's the socializing spirit these days?

I remeber seeing the last Marlboro Grand national on the black top-from memory it was won by Gene Cook-the place was jammed to the rafters with people and we had to park outside on the street. When I first went to Liverpool around 81/82 there was nothing except chicken farms around the area-just shows how fast Sydney grew in the 1980s-Russell

1984 was the last Grand National on tar. That weekend i flagged at Oran Park, went to both Liverpool and also PCR had the NSW sprintcar title on the same weekend. It had been held over from the previous weekend due to rain. What a mind blowing weekend. Touring cars at Oran Park, Grand National st Liverpool and Sprintcars at PCR. I still have the programs from all the events.

My sentiments exactly.....that's why the clubhouse at Liverpool was good. Newcastle clubhouse was good too especially on the long Easter weekends!!!

Yust browsing this site & couldnt help myself.L/pool holds many fond memories for me including 2 NAT CHAMP 1983/84.Last night on pavement, eveyone wanted 2 win this 1. Alan Streader hit the leed on lap 1,I was 2 lap 3& worked hard 2 haul him in.WE run wheel 2 wheel 4 the entire race. I had a good look up high & continued 2 work him down track knowing i would only have 1 chance 4 a pass.Last corner last lap BIG breath, run around the pit fence & won by 1/2 a car.Alan drove up inside of me with the thumbs up with approval, thats the sort of respect we had 4each other.WE are good mates today.Hope 2 have some interesting Compact Speedcar news soon. Meanwhile come& check us out Luddenham 1/4 Scale Speedway & have a chat.

Dunno Andrew all I know is I wanted that Car badly last I know it was purchased by Trevor Shields (Confederate Wreckers #17) then last I seen it was driven by Dave Hall (Regemade Cranes #68 circa 1996) but chances are it is in the Linigen Museum, it is also the car that ran 3rd in the 1987 Aussie Title in Rockhampton

  20. Ahh was just curious. I got some pics of Dave when he was driving Walsh's car for one of my Knoxville Nationals room mates who runs Daves fanclub.

Always on the lookout for more pics for him though.
