After two rain outs for rounds one & two, the Smooth Suspension Street Stock Super Series in Victoria looks under no threat of the ‘R’ word this Saturday and Sunday when many of Australia’s best drivers from down South head to Sonic Speedway in Swan Hill for the $1200 to win the ‘Fury Engines/Beverford Motors Mallee Masters’ before heading to Wahgunyah Speedway the following night for the $1500 to win ‘Wahgunyah Long Track Classic’.

With the money up, even if drivers are not in the full series it has enticed drivers to come for a run which will also give them a look at Swan Hill before this seasons Victorian title and for those travelling to Wahgunyah, it will give them a thrill of the speed they will build up around the 670 metre long clay topped venue.

There is a great mixture of drivers that are developing, drivers that think they can win & drivers who just want a weekend away which has meant thirty cars will go to Swan Hill & the mid twenties will run Wahgunyah.
Whilst most the drivers, if not all of them have run Swan Hill before Wahgunyah is new to just about every one of them & that has sparked a lot of interest in being a part of this weekends racing.

Four time former national champ Brad McClure, has run and won at Wahgunyah before and he has a head start on most of the field since others have only heard about Wahgunyah or seen it from the other side of the fence & at Swan Hill he just about needs three hands if he was to tally up the amount of feature race wins he has had at the venue in the past.

Whilst Swan Hill is just down the road for him, Australian Champion Robbie Faux cannot wait to go ballistic around Wahgunyah, he has seen it & now it’s his turn to burn it up in his Falcon. At Swan Hill Faux will be looking for psychological advantages by scoring the win before the state title in the New Year.

Mount Gambier’s, Anthony Beare has proven he can win anywhere & Wahgunyah is one place he hasn’t won at yet so you can bet your steel capped boots he plans on going home a winner. The current Victorian title holder will also be keen to make sure the Vic’s see him in top form & plant a seed of doubt in their mind before he defends his champion status at Swan Hill.

The Gartner lads Mark & Steven & Mick Dann are three more that you would consider in the absolute top drivers of Australia list & they won’t settle for anything less than their best.

Mick Clark the Tasmanian Champion is in good early season form & is keen to out run the big three once again whilst Ricky Throckmorton, Scotty Bull, Darren Giacometti, Morris Ahearn, Steven Watts, Richard Bansemer, Daniel Drewett, Shaun Henry, Darryl Atkinson, Andrew Ratten, Jason Degoldi, & Brooke Ferguson are in a long list that could take top spots at either event this weekend.

If you don’t want to miss the racing get into Swan Hill for a 6pm start Saturday night & Wahgunyah for a 3pm start Sunday. See the venue facebook pages or websites for details.
