Over the years there have been a number of very talented female racers who have competed in the various divisions of Australian Speedway. How about we give these ladies some recognition. Tell us their name, the car that they raced and their home track. Some photos (car or driver) would also be good.

Fay Talour was the first rider to vist Australia male or female in 1929.
She shocked the establishment over here by beating several top riders at thier home tracks She raced in WA VIC SA NSW QLD aslo NZ.
She pulled huge crowds wereever she rode.

After women were banned from speedway Solos 1930s
she went on to race Midgets in USA and her Nickname was "Fast Fay"
Unfortunatly Fay was also a Nazi supporter and was jailled during the second world war for leaking info to the germans!

The Birdwood museum (SA) has a 1928 Douglas on Dispaly which claims to be hers.

Read more about Fay here scroll down to the Fay Taylour Thread.

Melinda Moore/Dumpsey - PCR Sprintcars, she was very good in her day and i think she is the only female to win a WSS round ? lismore ??

Kelly Linigan - PCR Sprintcars, she can sure match the guys on her night.

Tanya Peacock/Smith - Lismore Super Sedans, very fast where ever she races at.

Kiona Lodge - Newcastle Street stocks, can hold her own against the guys

Greta Smith - Newcastle Street Stocks, always fast

Sue Healey/Williams - Cullen Bullen/Pcr/NSW sedan & street stocks class, allways a threat and can match it with the best of them and former title holder.

Kim Healey - Cullen & various Nsw tracks sedan classes in the 90's, again a very fast and competitive driver.

Alison Dwyer - Nepean raceway etc, a awsome title record in the oddessy class when this class was around.

Jodie Blakley/Denley - Cullen Bullen Sedan class, again very fast and upsets the boys at ever meeting.

Jenny Blakley/whittingslow not sure on the spelling - Cullen As above very fast.

Kayla Duggan - PCR Juniors - Track Champion very fast and competitive driver.

Monique Neave - PCR Juniors - Track Champion again very fast and competitve.

all of the abaove have shown that gender is no barrier if you got what it takes.

    cheers

Lyn Ward - V8 Super Sedans #23 Westoil Petroleum Ford Falcon, - she was very handy not allways as fast as paddy but very handy driver if the car was good she was hard to beat for a while before she retired i recall she was beating Paddy there for a while

Leighanne and Kylie Paddy and Lyn's daughters drove for a while too and were also good drivers but they got out after a couple of years i think they went on to focus on there business and families...

I think your right the girls need some recognition
Alana Baines- speedway karts at nepean and Gosford
    Natalie Genner" "
    Nichole Calleja- " "
I have watched all 3 girls perform extreamly well up against the best of the guys and a majority of the time finnish on the podium. Personally I would love to see them racing at pcr one day. Its great to see them do so well and its a great advert for the sport.:)

Ah yes, Kellie, I remember her being featured on the front cover of SRN back in about 1999. Apart from being good looking, she wasn't a bad racer.
